Loch, Broth and two whisky barrels

Hoots mon, Och aye the noo, Crivens, and Lang may ya lum reek,

Yessiree, The McKendry's have arrived in the land of the 'neeps and tatties', and are unpacking all of our big city finery into our lovely spacious country house. They say that moving house is one of three most stressful things you will ever do, narrowly behind marrying my wife, and giving her an honest opinion on anything, but it has gone surprisingly well. This is probably due to me not interfering with any of it. We managed to get everything sorted by Tuesday 19th, when the movers came in, packed up all of our belongings and drove it up to Glasgow. We put Lily into nursery for 3 days, and both of us spent the next 72 hours performing 5 years of on-hold DIY. Yes, all that stuff that we had been too scared to tackle because we thought it too difficult, we left until 72 hours before handing it over - clever huh? Neil and Lorna kindly put us up for 4 nights, fed us and watered us through this time, and then would bathe us and put us to bed each night. We really did not want to leave them in the end.

On Saturday morning we got up at 5:30 ( nice revenge for us to wake Lily up for a change ) and I dropped Moira and Lily at Stansted airport, and continued to drive on up to Scotland. When we arrived at our new pad we were delighted to discover that Anne and Miles had already spent the previous days unpacking all of our kitchen, and some books for us - brilliant - thank you guys so much.

Sunday was spent setting up my office and getting online, while Doug and Fran came over and helped us move the heavy furniture around. Already we have pictures on the wall, wine in the fridge, and some DIY needing doing, so we feel right at home. Our first night under our new roof was brilliant, but I woke up in the middle of the night panicking that I had gone deaf. There was not any background traffic noise, shouting neighbours, or people honking horns, so the silence woke me up.

Granny Mackay has been playing baby-sitter while Moira gets the house in order, and I get on with my work. What a saviour, as she not only keeps the gal occupied and frees up our time, but she tires Lily out also. Lily keeps referring to the lawn as wanting to go to " The Park ", as her only previous experience is our postage stamp size piece of grass. The gal is loving her large, pink coloured bedroom, which now has lots of room for toys so she can play in their also.

So, this is an open invitation to one and all to please come and stay. We already have our first two bookings, as Liz and Mike are coming to visit next month, and then Neil and Lorna as well.
Jackie and Moira have booked for New Year too. Don't be put off by the quietness and the clean air, when you visit I can rev up the car and honk the horn until you are used to the silence.

och, och and away

lots of love

The McKs ( of Scotland )

Well done, you lot - take it from one who moved 19 times in the first 17 years of marriage - and who has only recently settled forever - you have accomplished miracles. Enjoy the silence for a short while - we/they will all be there to pester you before you can gird yer loins and stuff yer sporran. Love, love, love, E'beth xxx
