Och Aye The Move

The wife thought of the title, it must be her Scottish blood.

As you may have guessed from the terrible pun, we now have a moving date to Scotland: Saturday September 23 2006. We have drawn up a list of 200 things that need to be done. e.g. put a lock on my wallet, knit 20 jumpers, throw out all the vegetables, buy Scotch, support a losing rugby team and never watch the football World Cup ever again. There we go, that should get me a big hearty welcome north of Hadrian's Wall.

For those of you who were not aware that we are swapping the lushness of London for the tropics of Glasgow, we are renting out our London pad and moving in next door to Moira's Mum, Anne. From the photo, you can see that we are renting the Annexe from Anne, but in return we get as much freshly baked shortbread as we like. It is pretty much a like-for-like move, as it is also a 3 bedroom house, the difference being that it is outside a lovely village in the country-side instead of a terraced house with all the smog you can breathe.

We have already checked out the local nursery, primary school and high school, and they are wonderful. People are very friendly and stop and talk to you in the street, but unfortunately I do not understand a word they say.

We tentativly have already found a tenant for London, have booked the removal firm ( how much !! ) and are now going through all of the paperwork that needs to be done, as well as a running list of things to fix in the house ( how many !! ). As my DIY skills do not extend much further than opening a can of coke, some of the tasks may actually be better left alone.

Details of the our address etc will be sent nearer the date ( as I am not posting that information on the interent ) but we are hoping that everyone will come up and stay with us at least once a year. We say that not because we will miss you all, we just will not have any friends in Scotland and it will be handy to have someone chop up the wood.

Wow - less than 6 weeks to go, I had better pack something.

Yours Aye

The Mcks
