Mallorca - What a corker

Where is Mallorca? Who cares, I thought, as long as it has some sun, hot beaches and cold beer, I am sold. Luckily the wife has a rather higher brow than me, which is quite difficult seeing as mine is rapidly expanding towards the rear of my ( hairy ) ears. To ensure the McKendrys actually saw the big shiny star that wobbles in the sky, the wife went online and searched for 3 nights to find us a summer holiday. She located a lovely villa in the northern part of the island which is Mallorca, off the east coast of Spain. Dos cervesas, por favor - make mine a cold one. She picked a beauty, complete with a pool, and a little 2 bedroom villa to ourselves, set on a wee section of land, far from the madding crowd.

The mornings would find us having breakfast outdoors at the table, and then settle in for a few hours of splashing in the pool. Lily's favourite game was to throw any handy object into the pool, and then yell ' ready, steady, GO !', and have her parents dive down and fetch it for her. This was fine for all of the pegs and flip-flips she hoisted in, but rather unfortunate for the occasional snail.

Afternoons would find us lunching at a seaside restaurant, sitting in the shade eating locally caught fish, and watching the sea beaconing us in. We would then succumb, splash around for a couple of hours, before heading back to our pool for some final 'ready, steady,GO'.
Once the gal was in bed, we would fire up the BBQ and settle in with the odd bottle of vino collapso.
We only experienced one cloudy-ish day, so we took the gal to Marineland to see the dolphins and sea lions, but she was more fascinated by the ice creams.

We had hired a car, so were able to drive to all of the beaches we fancied, and could stock up each night with local fish and meat to be grilled that evening. As always these holidays finish far too quickly and in no time at all we were back in Bonny Scotland.
We invited some friends over to watch the All Blacks Vs Scotland game, so Lily and the wife made come chocolate chip muffins. Lily got confused and thought that you had to perform the haka while making them, as is evidenced in the photo. Ka Mate, Ka Mate, Chocolate, Chocolate.
